The Northern Virginia Professional Pet Sitters Network was founded in 1998 with the mission of promoting professional pet sitting in Northern Virginia. We maintain a membership that is committed to excellence in professional pet sitting and as well as a dedication to community outreach and involvement. We are a non-profit organization that donates annual net revenues to local animal welfare groups. Our organization is totally managed by volunteers who are dedicated to the Networks’ ideals and mission.

The ideals of NVPPSN include maintaining a standard of professionalism among pet sitters in our local area, increasing public knowledge on the value of pet ownership and the joys of adopting a shelter animal, and educating pet owners on proper care for their pets. To assist us in achieving these goals, we require that all of our members belong to either Pet Sitters International (PSI) or the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS). In addition, all members agree to adhere to the Recommended Quality Standards of Excellence in Pet Sitting published by PSI. Many of our members also volunteer with local pet organizations or shelters. We are involved in local community events to help us spread our word and we have regular networking events with other pet industry professionals.

Our network continues to improve and grow due to the support and encouragement that all members receive from each other. We require a minimum attendance at our monthly meetings and encourage our members to be active on our committees, as well. We are a hands-on group of pet lovers and would love to get to know you better.
